I feel so sad seeing such a good building destroyed and looted like this. Weren´t it destroyed and forgotten, it would still give pride to Liberia. I had a friend in my country Sierra Leone who was a Liberian, he always told me about Hotel Africa that brought honour to his country. When I came to Monrovia, I went there to see for myself and realized that what he told me was an absolute truth.God please work for Liberia.

Great work, but please give captions to the photos so that those who don´t know my country very can know where these photos were taken. Thanks so much for showing the world the most beautiful country on earth. For me, this is not just my home but the only place I know so I don´t entertain arguments comparing my country with anywhere else. This picture is an aerial view of the Plaza Building which is the current Headquarters of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) located on 1st Street, opposite the Monrovia City Hall.

Will you please provide specific names and locations for these places, instead of just Monrovia City. Monrovia City is in other places, not Liberia alone; California in USA has Monrovia City. Example Like: Ashman St. Monrovia Liberia Example Like: Tradeco Bank, Broad St. Monrovia Liberia Example Like: City Hall, Jallah Town, Monrovia Liberia Example Like: Mamba point, Monrovia Liberia Many of us had left the country long time ago, and it’s difficult to indentify some of the areas without specific names and locations.

Cecil, Thanks you sooo very much for the very candid shots of my beloved country, Liberia. You pictures made me realized just how naturally beautiful Liberia is. I have been living in the United States for almost 30 years and have not gone back home since. It has been such a long time since I have seen some of these places in Liberia. One of the most memorable photos is the St. Marks Episcopal Church in Harper, Liberia where I went to church. It has not been renovated since the war, but still look majesty. Thank you for bringing back so much pleasant memory. I will be going back home real soon, now that there is PEACE!!

this comment applies to 99% of pictures that are on the net that have been ´enhanced´ with photoshop or equiv; if you can´t see when to stop, YOU SHOULD LEAVE IT ALONE. unfortunately this looks absolutely fake- way oversaturated, the contrast so high there is no subtlety at all in the mid-tones, and the green is practically out of gamut. a mess, and it´s so disappointing, because i wanted to know what bulgaria really looks like :-(

The Barkhor is the innermost street circling the Jokhang. The street seen here is (I think) the next street outward. It no longer looks quite like this. Because the Barkhor itself is lined with tourist stalls, most of the Tibetan local produce vendors have moved to this street.
